Stati della materia

Stati della materia

September 14 — October 12, 2021

The project focuses on the work of six artists, who have set out their entire path through systematic research on the experimentation of materials and their epidermal ability to generate forms and meanings closely linked to their own genesis. From marble to pigment, from wood to aluminum, from iron to cardboard, from plastic to organic materials: the works on display offer an overview of juxtapositions and contrasts, in a constant dialectic between propulsive energy and the quiet state of the forms. From installation to sculpture, from painting to drawing, the six artists protagonists of Stati della materia are present in the space with works paradigmatic of their individual paths, but the exhibition is also an opportunity to investigate new pairings, born out of affinities and intrinsic contradictions to their own works: Messina – Tondo; Fogliati – D’Acquisto; Viale – Fossati.

We pass by the monumental metal columns of Messina – which occupy the large entrance space of the gallery, dialoguing with the primary forms of Natalino Tondo’s works (large papers linked to his research on galaxies): between three-dimensionality and two-dimensionality grows a mix of structures that reflects on their very nature -, to the large canvases and “ecological” sculptures of from the thoughtful planning of Piero Fogliati’s drawings to his sculptures in which light and movement are integral parts of a radical thought of making sculpture through persistent fading. We then move on from Strings and the two-dimensional works of Daniele D’Acquisto‘s Forming cycle – investigations into the relationship between objects and space, constant measurements around the roots of sculpture – to the germinal marbles of Fabio Viale.
