Claudia Maina’s artistic residency project is part of the exhibition Il Taccuino del Marziano (from a writing by Ennio Flaiano, paradoxical handbook of social survival on Earth seen from an alien).
The exhibition promotes art events that stimulate the active participation of the residents of the residence in interaction with the artists, focusing on the theme of otherness and sharing, looking at differences as a resource and not a limit, as an opening and discovery of a common feeling.
From this perspective, the involvement of the artist Claudia Maina was born in relation to her project Finestre, engravings of views that the artist makes on glass plates and which, once set up, project the profile of the drawing onto the wall. The window becomes the symbol of the separation between oneself and others, a border line, a diaphragm that allows and delimits vision, at the same time a barrier that separates and protects.
Starting from these reflections, we thought about a project that would take on the contours of a workshop and involve the inhabitants.
Thus, was born the project The world seen from here. Artist and residents were asked to look out the window and draw the horizon it contains, to place themselves in an attitude of observation from their own point of view, both physical (from their own apartment) and emotional (from their own existential condition) to discover a shared vision, more than they ever imagined.
