Amarcord
September 22, 2020 – January 29, 2021 // with works by Ennio Bertrand, J&peg, Carlo Steiner, Daniele D’Acquisto and Miha Strukelj
At the same time as the UNMADE exhibition by Ilaria Gasparroni, which has memory as the driving force behind every creation, GAGLIARDI E DOMKE presents, on the ground floor of the gallery in via Cervino 16, a new exhibition of works from the Collection which, due to the theme that inspired the artists or for the time that has passed since the event they narrate, accompany us or urge us to enter the immense sphere of memories.
AMARCORD therefore.
Borrowed illegally from Fellini, it is the most spontaneous expression that each of us can resort to, urged to remember the vision of the works.
The exhibition with works by J&PEG, the result of a performative action, recalls the stylistic features of photos of yesteryear, immersing us in authentic family portraits.
Then you find Daniele D’Acquisto reminds us that the conquest of space, which has now become a program for tour operators, was instead the protagonist of an extraordinary epic in the seventies.
Carlo Steiner acts as a censor or “good disturber” of the news, taking the newspapers that convey it and exporting it with the scalpel. Good News is the title of the series because no news, as the old saying goes, is good news. Here, however, our memory plays a trick on us and allows us, despite Steiner’s painstaking export, to read every title and the atrocities it contains.
Ennio Bertrand, who, with the practice of capturing images from television monitors, those of the past, not the current ones that don’t let you see a pixel even if you want to, brings to mind some problematic episodes of our history since September 11th 2001 at Lady Diana’s funeral, or makes us fall back into the pop icons of advertising at the time of Carosello.
All we have to do is wish you a good viewing
